if its the manual then no it does not take gear oil it takes synchromesh which you can get at autozone or pep boys and its made my pennzoil its in a yellow bottle. its not hard to do its just hard to find the 17mm hex head to do it. good luck. a thing to pump the fluid out of the bottle and into the tranny is also a good tool to have. oh yeah mine took just over 2 bottles of the pennzoil synchromesh so you'll need 3.

here is a link to the site i used to help me out. this guy uses 5w-30 heavy duty diesel oil which amsoil says is the same as there new synchromesh tranny fluid. anyways i'd stick to what the manual says and use the synchromesh from either amsoil or Pennzoil and I've heard the amsoil stuff can make the shifting a little rougher because its thinner and doesn't pad as well but i don't have experience with it that's just from what I've heard

OK. Well i gotta get some, also how can i tell what type of tranny i have, cause the sensor for the reverse lights crapped out on me so i need to exhange it, i had a manual but it shows three diffrerent types and i not sure what model i have.
