o yeah for sure, mine are "flesh" and hang a good 6-8 inches down from the reciever hitch on my truck and all i get is ****. i live in colorado and am currently going to school up in boulder (a whole bunch of tree huggers) and whenever i drive around i will just randomly hear people laugh or yell cuz my truck is too loud and obnoxious. whatever i think they are funny as hell so i really dont care what other people say.

in Chicago, pickups are licensed with "B plates" indicating they are a truck. truck and any other commercial vehicles can not be parked on the street in residential areas. if you get caught, there is a nice $50 ticket waiting for you. which sucks, because where am i supposed to park at night??? now i take up the driveway while my dad's corvette has to sit in the street. how lame is that. there is a way around it though, if you obtain 'special' plates ie: firefighter memorial plates, environmental plates, etc etc, you can bypass the "B plate" restriction on vehicles up to 8,000 lbs.

the reason the law is in place is so that tow trucks and dump trucks and freakin semi's aren't on narrow side streets all the time. i hardly see how a dakota, ranger, or S10 qualify under the same category. the law's the law's if your vehicle has a bed of any kind, it's B plates for you.

yeah, it just sucks when i see escalades and denalis and suburbans that dont need them because they are SUV's (SUcker Vehicle). those things are almost twice my size. i feel even worse for all the S10 owners though (and not just because they own chevys!).
