Default Rear wheel speed sensor replaced, same problem still...

Hi, guys, was wondering if you can help?

My dad has a 02 dakota 4 doors 2wd 3.9L, the ABS and brake lights are on, also the speedometer does not work.

Before I replaced the rear wheel speed sensor with a new unit, the check engine light was on, it was pulling out code P0500 (vehicle speed sensor). So I did a search on this forums and the most obvious thing to do was replace the rear diff sensor.

Well now that I replaced it and cleared the codes, I still have the same lights on and the speedometer still does not work (the check engine light is off).

What's next?

Is the vehicle speed sensor the one on the tranny? there is one on the passenger side that hangs down and has about 3 wires comming out.

Does anybody now how to check this sensor?

Help me guys please....

vehicle speed sensor is on the transmission/t-case. its only about $20 or less at any auto parts. just replace it.

It could be a bad connection at the rear wheel sensor too. Check the pigtail connector to make sure it isn't broke or cracked, and check the wiring too.
