just bought 2002 dodge dakota sport
The Dak guys will tell you for sure, but I don't think so. You have to drop the oil pan, which can be done by just lifting the tranny & engine slightly. Still a bi*ch, but nothing like dropping the tranny. That's if the "guys" are talking about the rear main seal.
If it's the front main seal then it's the timing chain cover/water pump/fan/overflow tank/rad. shroud, crank pulley/harmonic balancer/hoses/belt, etc.
So I'm assuming since they say tranny's got to come off (which again I doubt) I'm assuming they are talking rear main seal...
Again, one of the dak guys or mechanics on here will confirm, I just tinker and mod my trucks for a hobby and to unwind.
Oh yea, and welcome to the forum by the way...

Thanks HammerZ71. Well, that answer at least doesn't sound quite as pricey as dropping the tranny. Sorry u r missing good ole Ga.

Big time, I moved to Fl. to take care of my folks, they both got real ill within the same year, but things are starting to get a little better, made it home for the first time in 14 months in April, again in June and if the hurricanes stay away, I'll be home next week for about three weeks...
Was through Stone Mtn. in June, I've got a camping lot up above Clayton...
