Default Monitoring your Truck

Has anyone installed gauges in there truck to monitor there components. I was wondering if some of you could post some pictures, give a little advice on the steps you took, some of the gauges you put in, and possibly how easy it was to install. And where you got the parts from would be much appreiciated. thanks.

Google search for custom gauge pod dashes for Dakotas. I have seen a few with up to 5x extra Pods for other gauges.

Glow Shift sells gauges and pod and misc stuff.

Autometer also sales pods, gauges ect...

depending on the gauge is how hard it is to install, some require special adapters and couplers
while others are just a signal wire with power and ground.

In my truck i have, Vacuum, Fuel Pressure, and A/F Ratio in a A-Piller Pod with glow **** 7 color tint gauges, i got these so i could match the colors with my stock gauges on the dash.

My gallery has pics of this.

All are matching blue in color, along with a Escort Radar also in blue lol, i like it.

thanks Both of you for posting. I am pretty sure that anwsers my question. I have A couple more minor ones. User if i go through with glow shift do they send all the necessary parts to install the gauges: like mounting couplers and sensors and such like that. kinda like this. :http://www.glowshiftdirect.com/elite...ure-Gauge.aspx
Are both of you happt with your set up. I am thinking of adding these gauges depending on if they are made, i think they ar made but between glowshift and jcwhitney i think they are different in the models. I want to put a boost gauge, airflow micture gauge, and a gas pressure gauge on an a pillar pod. then down below on my dash i want to put another three like vacum, diff temp, nitrous pressure. in this kinda pillar. :http://www.jcwhitney.com/autoparts/V...002117/c-10101. Could one of you give me some insite into how hard the gauges metioned above are to install.

as far as parts and pieces you need to install, Glow shift will tell you on the site, my vacuum, fuel pressure and a/f came with everything i needed to install.

vacuum is easy, just tap into a vacuum line close to the intake manifold, i used the line going to my master cylinder.

boost is the same thing as vacuum, boost is -vacuum. They make gauges that have boost and vacuum on them.

fuel pressure, sensor plugs into your fuel rail, although i couldn't find a coupler to fit it so i had to use high pressure hose with clamps, but it started to leak so i took it off.

The Purge valve on the fuel rail, is a weird size, something like -4an or something (correct me if im wrong) and the fitting on the end of the sensor is 1/8th so you need a female/female coupler for those sizes.. never found one, so its disconnected on mine now.

a/f is easy. Just run a wire to the 1/1 o2 sensor and tap into the data wire. On mine it was tan, although i suggest getting a new bung drilled and install a new o2 or get a wide band o2 reader.

and type of temp gauge uses a probe that usually has to be installed to the part you are taking them temp from. Never installed one so not sure how they do it.

Nitrous Gauge, not sure never installed one. But should be easy if you just talking about getting a reading from your bottle.
