After measuring the space in front of the condenser last night, I won't have much room to mount anything upfront. I only have about 3" of clearance front the condenser to the bumper. The Mark 8 fan doesn't sound too bad, and I could keep my high speed fan for high temps and a/c assuming I could rob the two speed fan wiring schematic from a PT cruiser for a guide.

After looking around, the Mark VIII is sounding better and better, but with such a high amp load, could I use the PCM to control the high speed fan for a/c?

Ok,.. Another fan,.. 96' thru 99' Intreped will work with
not too much of a load. Duel fan,.. Max CFM 3600. Works
great at cooling that yr Intreped with that closed-up front
end. (No air movement to speak of). Cut the End-Tap-Mounting
Brackets off, (All plastic-4) and it mounts well with B-Cool's
Zip-Tie rad-mounts found in Jegs or, Summitt. It has 4 3/4"
dept. And, Can probably clear 3 1/2' if mounted so the fan
motor clears a pulley or belt. You can get these fans all day
long at the boneyard for as little as 10 bucks. They are EVERYWhere.
Seems like Intreped is a popular car with boneyards for some reason.
Don't know what the draw is but, it's alot less than the Mark-8 fan.
I run one in my 347 stroker Mustang with a blower making 16 lbs of
boost. I can sit in traffic all day long and not run hot in the summer
and have the air on and, it's just fine. Maybe try that for your truck.
Also, that way, your staying with Mopar for your parts.

Im curious to see how this goes. My favorite junkyard ALWAYS has intrepids. Wonder what the current draw on them is?

And not to sound stupid (tho I do it well!) do you run it on a switch only or can you connect it to the tstat somehow?

Well regardless of the fan I end up using, I will probably try to leave the high speed fan PCM operated, but use a temp sensor/fan relay for the low speed fan that you can get at any local parts store.

On my Mustang, I have low constant on.
When I switch the air on, the high-speed
kicks on by itself. I also have a Haden (sp)??
Temp-Probe mounted low thru the rad-fins
that will kick the high-speed on if the temp
reaches 210 in temp.
The Temp Probe is less than 30 dollars I
think. If you ever use this type of probe,
ALWAYS mount it low thru the fins.
Cause if you loose water in the radiator,
below the probe for whatever reason, the probe will never read
water temp, And, your fan will never kick on.
If I ever switch over to a electric fan for my Dakota, this is the
set-up I'll use do to the fact it has worked so well with the Mustang.
Whatever you choose, I think doing the switch to electric is well
worth the gains. Free HP & Free MPG. Less stress on the water-pump.

I would not trust an electric water pump lol. Shorts out and there goes your engine! lol.

Id love an electric fan but not sure how they hold up with water abuse...

I think the electric water pump would be alittle much, but they are nice and can make complicated belt routings easier. Not for a street car however.
I am going to see if I can come across an Intrepid fan. I used a black magic on the Fox I used to have, but I don't really want to spend $300 for a fan. This whole thing got started as an alternative to buying a $100 fan clutch, so we will see...
