I'm wanting to change the oils in both front and back differantials, and will need some help in what oils I will need. I will be draining them completely by removing the plates.
The "TAG number" on both plates is 35 or 3.5. What code is this? Limited Slip?
From what I can see it also looks like there is a gasket, not siliconed.
While I have them opened is there anything I should be looking at while it's open? Wear on special areas?

75w-90 oil, look in your glove box at the build sticker or give your VIN to a dealership and ask them. LSD needs friction modifier. most likely the inspection covers are siliconed on. check for uneven wear, pitting, bluing on the gear teeth. also chipped or missing teeth are an issue. you should also have a magnetic in the pumpkin, just clean it off.

 

I looked on my glovebox, and on the sales invoice. Never dawned on me to look there!
Turns out to be limited slip, now another question, this is a 4x4, both front and rear would be the same right.

 

im pretty sure the friction modifier only needs to go into the rear axle, otherwise same oil weight in both axles.. wait for the others to chime in about the modifier in the from diff
