Default Msd Blaster 3 coil.. any good?

My friend gave me one to try and my truck is all stock but the cold air intake. Can I just splice the wires and install it or will i have big trouble running without the red box is see on them all the time?

installing just the coil will throw CEL lights, you need a adapter harness and universal harness to get it to work without throwing codes, try to never splice factory wiring from exp it can end up bad.

but from what it says on the MSD site the coil CAN be used without the MSD Ingnition control box.

but do some research on the harnesses Google is your friend. When i bought mine it was already put together i just plugged it in and wired it to my battery and BAM i was done.

only part of the harness i hacked up were my speaker wires. blew out those factory paper weights and threw in some alpines. sounds crisp as can be until i hook it up to an amp
