Butt plug in rear differential?

The only thing worse than a rubber butt plug, is a leaking rubber butt plug...

Wow this thread took a turn for the worse way to quick! On a serious note, I do believe that most rear wheel drive differentials have a rubber plug in them to seal up the fluid. This hole is also used for inspection. These plugs do occasionally leak from time to time. Next time you are driving down the road, take a look at the truck in front of you, you will probably see that the rear differential has has a small leak.

(notice the technical wording I used to avoid mis interpretation!)

You could always get one of these. I wanna get one but there to expensive for me right now.

These are a little cheaper depending on the finish you get and have a drain and fill plug so you never have to take it off http://www.yourcovers.com/newdifferential.htm

i got my LSD clutch replaced for only like 350-400 bucks but i guess that is cuz i used to work at a dealership.

I had my whole rear rebuilt with a brand new non stock LSD they did everything in the pumpkin
