Quick question for all yall with the 5 speed. i know that automatics have to get their tranny fluid changed out but i just wanted to see if we did also. and if so about how long?

I change mine at 40,000 miles. I use the real Mopar lube from the dealer, the aftermarket lube is too thick. They say Pennzoil Synchromesh is made for the NV3500 but it's too thick or something and made my transmission shift really hard and it felt like it was full of mud. The dealer lube is a full synthetic lube which is why it costs $15.00 a quart. Takes about 3 quarts to change it out.

i used the pennzoil stuff and it works fine for me. smoothed it out for a few thousand miles now its back to what it used to be. i was gonna go with the gm synchromesh which i heard was full synthetic but got to reading and found out its the same as the pennzoil stuff so i'd say either or from my experience

you'll need a 17mm hex bolt if your gonna do it yourself its a rare and bitch to find

other than that and something to pump the fluid in its a piece of cake

 

yeah i will probably just have the dealership replace the clutch and fluid at the same time by any chance do you or anyone else know how much it costs for a new clutch?

 

when i was looking into centerforces just for the clutch parts it was around 300 so plus labor im guessing around 400-550 all said and done
