Default Heater resistor or heater core problems

I have changed my heater resistor 2 times now ( about to do a third time). Wondering if there would be some extra resistance against the heater fan or something to make the resistor keep blowing on them.

Blower motor resistor and blower motor connectors are prone to damage. I would make sure neither one of those connectors have any black or melted terminals. If not, next time you replace the resistor replace the motor too.

Are you changing the resistor with factory resistors. I changed mine twice with dealer supplied resistors because a couple local parts stores said it was a dealer item. I then contacted a NAPA store because the last one fried on a Saturday. They had a replacement one for under $20.. It has lasted since, and no more problems. I also noticed a greater velocity in the air output of all the fan speeds. I am kinda wondering if the factory type resistors run the fan speeds to low, which in turn causes them to heat up and blow out faster. Mine is 2004 Dakota.

Thanks, I will try that after this one goes. The one at the dealership was around the 20 dollar mark as well.
