yeah i hear where you are coming from, but it really surprises me that they didn't do it in the ram (since it has much more sales)... they did the SRT10 in the ram but it was pretty expensive and having both an SRT10 and SRT8 option would have really made it badass.... the dak just doesn't have enough sales to warrent such a large investment, sure people would like it, and look at it but chances are, and esp in the economy, they wouldn't or couldn't buy it

If chrysler wanted to, they could produce an srt8 dakota with very little cost in my opinion. All the money they would have to spend really is just whatever it takes to figure out how to put the 5.7 in the dakota. Once they figure that out they can just use the same powertrain they use behind a 5.7 Ram. Probably all they would have to do is shorten the driveshaft because they already put the 545RFE in daks behind the 4.7. Throw in a 3.92 rear with LSD, lower the front one inch and the rear 2 inches, add some better looking wheels and throw on some SRT badges and voila...SRT8 dakota. Of course it would only come in extended cab because they dont even have a regular cab anymore, but its better than nothing. They dont wanna do that though because it would take sales away from their precious Rams. I honestly think chrysler wants dakotas to fail. Think about it, they made them ugly and charge an arm and a leg for them and they never advertise them.

although i am partial to the looks of the 2nd gen, a 3rd gen would really be something..., if they could bring back the look of the 2nd gen for the 4th gen, that would be sick as hell but as wink said, i agree that chrylser wants the dakota to fail, ther is much more money in it for them if they were able to just ahve the ram... which is a shame if you ask me JMHO

Really I don't think it would sell. Unless they do something drastic to make them look better no one is going to buy it. The new daks are ugly as hell. Like rt said if it were 2nd gen it would be awesome but Id rather have my 4.7 in a 2nd gen than a 3rd gen with a 5.7 or 6.1, they're just so ugle compared to the 2nd gen... but its still a hell of a lot better than those POS toyots
