4WD question
I drive a 2002 Quad Cab SLT. I had the rear U-joint replaced during the summer. In the first couple of snows, I have used the 4WD hi. When I put it into 4WD, it seems to make a humming sound, and the truck seems like it is dragging. Acceleration seems fine, but when I let up on the gas, the truck slows down considerably faster than when it is not in 4WD.
I'm not sure if it is a problem, but I don't remember this happening last winter.
am I worrying for nothing?

I don't do allot of 4x4 myself, but it would seem logical that w/the front diff engaged that it would slow down faster because more power is needed to maintain 4 moving wheels. I could be way off, hopefully somebody w/good amount 4x4 exp. will chime in.
if you have a v6 this sounds logical, more wheels to requiring power and providing rolling resistance to slow down the engine. start with the absics, check your fluid levels. look for rust "spray" from the u-joints. push up and down on the drive shafts, etc. got to get down there and look. are you driving with 4wd engaged on dry pavement?
i just did a lot of driving in ice yesterday using the 4wd a lot it was horrible the whole way from 81 in Harrisburg to route 30 in lancaster was pure ice my dad in his jeep and me in the truck didn't go over 45 the whole way home but anyways mine seemed to slow down a little more with the 4wd in then 2wd but it wasn't a drastic change all i know is that when you see an explorer go across three lanes to the right sideways the the whole way back to the left across 5 lanes and through the median grass almost to the other side then you downshift to 4th at about 40 and your *** end starts coming out it will make you put it in 4wd and be scared ****less lol worst drive home i've ever done
