Confused!!!!!
Hello, i have a 2001 Dakota Sport Quad Cab 4x4 with the 4.7 in her. We had a problem with it awhile ago with the battery dieing. So we got a new battery for it and thought it was good. The next day it was dead again. So we took it to a shop, they had it for a few days, and said that there was a parasitic draw on the battery and they came down to it that it was the cd player/radio. So they unplugged it and now we dont have any radio, a dome light, brights, and our remote start doesnt work either. I am very confused and i want to pull my hair out because i dont know what is wrong with it. I am going to get my DVOM out and start seeing what i can find but if anybody has any ideas or even any clues they would be greatly appreciated. Thankyou, Jordan
1st,.. Run a hot-wire straight to the battery from the radio.
Ground it to the frame. Put a cheap-*** toogle-switch to interupt
the power to the radio. Now, UNTIL you figure the problem out,
you'll have a radio to listen to.
But, what it sounds like they did was pull the fuse for your interior
lighting. That kills your power for the radio too.
Put the fuse back in with the radio hooked up the way I said... See
if you STILL have a draw. If not, it's the radio,.. If it STILL draws
down the battery, start with each over - head bulb and work twards
all the lights on that circute. (Another thought)... Have messed with
the wiring for the radio? Is it stock?? Might be there.
I say go this route because I had the same problem with my Ram,..
It turned out to be one small over-head light-bulb's fillament (sp)?
came apart and layed across on a angle to the other side causing a
short. One in a million shot that it could ever happen but, it did.
Or,....... Just start unplugging stuff on that fuse while monitoring
the draw off your battery with a volt/meter. Good-luck.

ooor....
unplug the radio from the back, you wont have a radio but you'll have the lights, if the draw is still there then its not the radio.
could be the remote start or the 1 in a billion chance of a grounded to itself blown bulb

Yeah i was thinking about just hardwiring the cd player right to the battery(it is the stock cdplayer by the way). I dont know i got a couple ideas and a couple of ideas from you guys. I am going to get some wiring diagrams off of alldata and dig into it over christmas. If anybody has anymore ideas or anything they would be greatly appreciated. Thank You, Jordan
