Did you take pics of the actual steps and where the screws are at and stuff? Has anyone done a DIY on this yet? And for the noob question of the day, what does the heater core actually do?

and the heater core gives you heat and defrost.
that is absolutely the most ridiculous thing i have ever seen. For all that work, I would just not have heat. In fact, my 88 blows out lukewarm air and I know it needs a heater core, but im not about to go thru all that.
thats just poor design

A busted heater core causes lots of Antifreeze to get EVERYWHERE, it was so bad it was pouring out my firewall, i almost over heated.
Thats why im replacing it, cuz if i drive it in the upper rpm like 4500+ it will leak fluid.. so i had to replace it.. and im not paying someone else to do it for 500-1000 dollars.. plus to i needed the experience on how to do this.
Cuz now i can do other peoples trucks and charge them 500$ lol
If my heat is hot with the blower setting at the lowest and cooler with the blower setting at the hightest, what would that be?

make sure you check the new heater core and make sure it doesnt leak!!!
I did it my self in the 99, it took a weekend just taking my time. it was a PITA. then I got it all together and it still leaked. I got a faulty heater core. so I said **** it and took it to the dealer. it was only $350 including a new heater core. so there was no way I was goin through all that hell for only $350. so I let them do it and I got a 1 year warranty.
