its not a race even if he was trying. a girl i used to work with had an I-5 colorado and i beat her by a truck length 0-60 in my 3.9.... it makes sense though.... a girl driving a girl's truck, they cant make them very powerful for safety reasons.

Those I-5's are weak. i had test drove one and didn't like it one bit.

Well, much to my suprise, Chevy does offer the 5.3L V-8 in stock 2009 Colorados. Though the 4.7L (the "new" one that's only been out for a couple of years), pumps out a tad more power. With less displacement.
Although you probably raced a I-5... maybe an I-4.
Plus, I've always viewed the Colorado as a "Hey mom! Look at me! Look at what I can do!" truck. (ie somehow they downgraded from the S-10)

my buddy has a 'newer' colorado with the i-5 and i'm not impressed at all. i loved my old s10 with the 4.3l so much power in that motor. i busted the center ring off the clutch plate with 180k miles on the truck. and it took everything i ever threw at it. just too bad i had so many other problems with that thing. elec, motor mounts, the whole steering, etc. but that motor was solid

my step dad has a mega cab colorado...and there nice little truck for puttin around town adn they get decent millage....

his had teh tranny blow up at 36000 miles
fuel filter fell off at 40000
the rear end locked up at 42000......and he got it with 7000 on it.....so he bought a lemmon

other then that...the I-5's a stout little engine for the amount of weight it has to push(the mega cab)

You probably raced an I-5. I know the 5.3l is no slouch in my friend's 1500 Silverado so I'd imagine it goes pretty good in the lighter Colorado (assuming the truck doesn't explode first lol). I'd still be surprised if it could beat an R/T but it should be closer than sad.
