Default Cat replacement!

I think by the sound of things that the catalytic converter is disintegrating on my 2001 Dakota V/6. It's making a god awful rattling noise like my brothers '97 did when his went bad. I've also noticed that my mileage seems improved as well as overall performance since it started to self destruct. I'll replace it to remain legal but I'm wondering what you guys would recommend as a performance replacement that is less restrictive than the stock converter.

high flow cat OR just rip it out all together. if emissions are a problem, use an O2 simm.

if you still have the stock exhaust then a hi flow cat will help your performance. however if you ahve an aftermarket exhaust, chances are a high flow cat and/or no cat will hurt your performance.

basically its the different backpressure amounts you have to worry about.

I have a Magnaflow replacement muffler. Other than that it's the stock diameter exhaust. The Magnaflow replacement cat out of Summit is $658! More than I'm going to pay for sure! They list a Catco for $250, but I've never heard anything good or bad about them and whether or not they are a high flow unit.

it doesn't say that it fits our truck. don't get me wrong as with some custom mod work it will fit but the list in the description says otherwise...
