Default Rough Start

when i start my truck up (2001 Dakota V6) the RPMs shoot up and then die down real quick and then my truck just dies. I have to give it gas for a good minute to get it warm and then it will idol but it wont idol if I dont give it gas.

check and clean or replace(replacing is better) your IAC valve, its a little electronic motor on the back of the throttle body, that is what fixed my old truck when it did that, i think its like 30.00 USD at autozone(or whatever local store you have)

well once i get it warmed up it idols just fine but its right when i get it started i have to give it gas for a little it wont just idol right away. now it is cold as **** out and i did just top off my anti-freeze. so i don't know what the problem is.

do a tune up as well (plugs, wires, cap and rotor)... btw it's idle buddy, not idol...

yea the iac veing dirty causes it to allow the wrong amount of air into the engine at idle, so if you clean or replace it, it will make the cold idle work better, my old truck did this to me in the middle of the winter, the iac affects it the most at a COLD idle, once the truck has warmed up the computer can find it more easily and it doesnt have any problems anymore

Check and replace ur PCV valve. I had the same problem and I did that, now it runs just fine.

its straight now, i guess its just because i had it in the shop for a week and it hadn't been run. but thanks guys.
