Default Hard to start truck due to clutch?

I just bought a 97 Dodge Dakota, 4cyl 5speed, 2wd, high miles.

When I disengage the clutch (to start the truck), I have to press it really hard before it will let me start, which is kind of annoying. I don't know if it's normal for Dakotas, but I know that my grandpa's s-10 didn't act like that, so I'm guessing something's wrong.

I've read in a few posts that I can't adjust the clutch, so I don't know if there's anything I can do.

Also, I was told that the clutch was new as of January 08.

Any info on this would be great.

could be the clutch pedal position switch is worn out and barely works or just loose.
