Default Off-road Dakota meet, Colorado

I would like to organize a meet for any of the off-road Dak owners in Colorado. I figure we could all meet at a certain location, and drive a short distance to a trail. Depending on the amount of people that show, and considering the capability of the group as a whole, we could definately tackle a 2 or 3 rated trail. Even if it is snowing during the day, a 2 rated trail wouldnt be a problem.

Feel free to chime in if this sounds interesting.

I will also post this in the 1G, 2G, and 3G areas.

Considerations for location are: Dakan Road (outside of Castle Rock), Bunce School Road (near Allenspark), Pierson Park Road (Estes Park), or any other trail that the members feel would be a good one.

I figure (weather permitting) that we could go towards the end of Feb. I guess this all depends on the amount of people that will attend. If there is an extremely small group, we can all decide among ourselves on where and when to go.

This is more of a roll call to see how many Dakota owners in Colorado would want to hold a meet/wheeling trip like this.

I'm in the springs, would be cool to meet up. This is my first truck, have always had import tuners (vw, audi, bmw). Went and did a little off-road up on old stage road today. I've lived here my whole life and have never taken my own vehicle up there so that was nice.

Old stage road isn't too bad. It does have some trails that shoot off in different directions but I don't think much of it is too bad. You could handle it with the stock suspension and 4x4

I was thinking of a 3 rated trail. Basically, you can go to traildamage.com and view trails for Colorado. The site rates the trails and defines difficulty. If you are a stock 4x4, a 3 is very do-able. When you get to 4, you will want some additional ground clearance and sway bar disconnects. If you go any further than that, you would want at least an LSD in the rear and 33" tires....and so on and so forth.

...I also will be bringing my list o' stuff:

Tow rope, hand winch, etc.

Do you guys have recovery hooks in the front and provisions for towing form the rear?

Most likely, we would not need these on a 3....but I am always prepared.
