Default trailering questions

I'm planing a trip thats about 650 miles each way. mostly high way

I'm towing a boat thats around 6000 pounds with the trailer. Last time I made this trip I was in a inline 6 cylinder bmw x5. I couldn't go above 65 because the engine would stay at 3500rpm at all times.

Now I have my 2000 dakota quad cab 4x4 with the 4.7 v8. Should I be able to make this trip more easily?

Should I turn over drive off? What could I do to maximize my towing abilities?

definitely will be an easier trip. i'd say only take the overdrive off if you feel it needs to be off. make sure your tires have good tire pressure, clean air filter, ect ect maybe run 89 if there are some hills or lots of stop and go

agreed. in mostly flat terrain, you can leave O/D engaged. but if you start hitting rolling hills and slopes, kick it off to keep the trans from searching around and getting hot.
