Tranny didnt get fixed, so now im spending 2k...
The Dakota R/Ts run 15s stock, i would say mine at this point might run mid 13s maybe low 13s with all this work, with the tranny and nitrous i plan no be at mid 12s or low 12s, after the tune with heads/cam i want to break into the 11s... and im done. Anything faster then 10s requires a rollcage.. and im not putting a cage in a DD... but 11s is good enough for the street... and no way in hell would i want to juice off the line with a 100-150shot with only one hand off the wheel... nitrous alone preduces about 3x times more torque then the hp you gain, 100hp/300torque. My truck is going to want to pull into the wall... auto trans is staying in my truck.
12 secs is still fast, 10 secs is really fast. 12 seconds is fast because its obtainable by the average guy and you don't see much lower than that on a regular basis unless of course you are at a drag strip. 10 secs is really fast and there aren't a lot of 10 sec street cars out there, thats why there is a difference
but def take that beast to the strip once you're done and lets see what she runs.

you can do it. you have to have the block sonically tested to ensure its structurally strong enough to take that kind of abuse tho. it would be easier to take one of the new 6.1 hemi's out to a 426. PERSONALLY i would rather do a 440. i know 2 guys that have 440's in theyre 1st gen dakotas and one guy thats got a 383 in his 2nd gen. it can be done.
most cars that are in the 10 sec range or slower can be driven in the street as long as the driver can handle it, you can not think that when you have a fast car you can just floor the gas pedal and expect the car not to brake the tires loose. it can be fun or it can get hairy if you don't know what you are doing. at the track, allot has to do with the suspension, the car need to be set up right to launch straight. if you have a car set up right you can drive with one hand with out a problem. this is from my own experience, i have a 87 GN that i race and have a group of other guys with the same type of car that are faster and slower.

But a 440 6 pack would be awfully sweet too!
