Default HID conversion

Has anyone converted their headlights to HID? I'm looking to do this. I found a conversion kit on ebay for like 160$, but I just wanted to see if anyone has done it, and what exactly it evolves.

I havent seen anyone in the 2nd Gen do it... but I have seen and know of a 3rd Gen guy who has done it. Im sure the difference from the 2 trucks cant be much. Shoot a PM to EricEmery and ask him.

I've done it to my 98 dakota. I also have projector headlights so I get that sharp cutoff line.

Heres a couple videos of what it looks like
Heres the 6000K------>http://s79.photobucket.com/albums/j1...t=IMGP1879.flv

And the 4300K----->http://s79.photobucket.com/albums/j1...t=IMGP1881.flv

Don't get a conversion kit off ebay. They are complete junk. Try to find a local seller first. Unless you can find a kit off ebay thats made in germany, which is where the best ones are.

The cutoff line/pencil beams are what really irk me on HID. yea they're super bright, but they blind oncoming drivers, and they only cover your lane and MAYBE half a lane to each side?

I usually just end up driving with low+fog on, and if it's really dark, i hold the lever for low+high beams (i need to do the wiring deal where all 3 stay on at once)

Acutally they cover my line, plus the oncoming lane, plus the ditch. And if you have them adjusted correctly, then you won't ever blind oncoming drivers. I've never been flashed before. I never use my high beams too. HID's just elimnate the use for them.

Seeing as your truck has a 9007 dual filament bulb. Which has low and high in the same bulb. Its NOT recommended to have both high and low on at the same time. It gets way to hot and burns out the filaments in the bulb really fast. Only on a vehicle that has different bulbs for both high and low would I ever try that.

Yeah, unless you want to blow out your bulbs, its just not worth the extra light.
