Axle vent leaky !!!

Guys notices it is a Dana 44, I have been trying to help on another forum but do not know much about problems on these axles.

On thing i am wondering is if it could be a bad bearing causing the fluid to get really hot.

bearing is quite possible, but usually you would hear that.

not necessarily. You might not hear it till it's on the frits.

What would be good is to remove the chunk and check the races, especially on the carrier, remove the pinion nut and pull that out too not too much work to remove.
