lets see on mine... I used a set of vice grips, to hold the fan and nut in place, so it didn't spin, then took a ratchet and pulled the fan off...

As to where is it?

It's the big fan mounted to the front of the engine...

and it will give you a little better throttle response and power at least it felt like it for me.
