Default dodge ball joints are

pieces of sh*t.. went for a wheel alighnment at firestone, lifetime alighnments woohoo.. get a call to ome back to the store, they want to show me my front end issues. get there, tell me my ball joints are bad. went out to the shop floor to the alighnment lift. truck was getting a tire rotation first so it was on a lift on the table. grabbed the wheel. FML.. lower ball on the driver side and upper ball on the passenger side are beginning to fail. sweet. gonna replace all 4 since i will already have a majority of everything torn apart, whats an additional 30 mins of knocking out the lwoers gonna be, right? getting 4 napa ball joints. $69 a piece. called a few places for moog joints. only one store, a &a auto parts, $100 a BJ.. no thanks. il stick to napa, never had a problem with their parts, and i need them asap. sh*t needs to end

and for the record, had the recall done already. o well

Do ya'lls ball joints have grease fittings like the 1st gen's? If so grease them at every oil change and they shouldn't ever be a problem. I know what you mean though, when I first bought my truck the guy who owned it before me didn't maintain any of the front suspension/steering components and I had to get the ball joints and tie rods replaced.

If you keep them greased they should last a very long time. I've heard of them going out at 40,000 miles and I've heard of them last well over 100,000 and counting. It all depends on how well you take care of them.

Wow! You're right then, they suck! If they're not going to make something that you can maintain they need to make them last a whole heck of a lot longer!

Thats such bull! I hate all the greased for life ****. The tie rods, ball joints, u joints they all say that $hit and its bull. If they had grease fittings they could be greased all the time and they would never fail. Why on earth did automakers have to start making this greased for life crap.
