Default security light in my Dakota

Just bought it. When you start it up, the info center has a light that has SECURITY. I only got a key, no manual. Light goes out like the other check lights. Am I missing a remote? Does the key have a chip? If I am missing something, where can I get it?

My dad's 98 has that, and when he locks the doors with the keyless remote it arms the system and the light comes on.

Good luck at the dealer. 7 years ago, I went to get a key programmed for a 2001 Dakota and the local dealer charged me $5 a key. I went back three months ago for another one and they wanted $75. Chrysler is no longer getting my business for anything. I would pay twice as much if the money doesn't go to Chrysler. or their dealers.

A good locksmith should be able to program keys for you.
