a couple of weeks ago my instrument gauges went out and mysteriously came back on. a few days later they went out and havent come back. After researching the net some I came to a couple of possible solutions but everyone varied drastically. The truck itself runs great and all of the lights work( turn signals, flashers, seatbelt. etc) except for the gas light. My cruise control no longer works either. I broke down and bought a used cluster from a salvage yard thinking that might be the problem rather than paying $800 for a new one from the dealer. Alas, that didnt fix anything, the used one does exactly the same thing. If anyone has any ideas or any kind of helpful feedback please share it.

Not entirely sure, Ive torn the entire steering column apart, pulled and cleaned aoruned every plug, jiggled every wire and cant find the problem. I dont know what a CEL is. if its some sort of code I havent run any scanner. Possible that the assembly that plugs into the Cruise control and airbag at the column gone bad?

Are all your gauges going dead, or just speedo and tach? I had a similar problem once don't know if its relevant to your problem. The rear axle ABS sensor died, kept making my tach and speedo go dead then come back alive mysteriously. The gas, temp, and oil pressure gauges were not effected.
