'98 Tranmission Slip? 3.9L
Hello Again,
I am working on my baby's transmission (well, as much as I know how..). However, I have a problem whereas when the truck is cold (first run) the transmission has a problem going from 2nd to 3rd gear. Within a few blocks of driving it is running fine again.
So my buddy and I had figured that there was a possibility that the transmission fluid/filter should be changed. So I replaced the filter, which did look like garbage and the fluid which looked equally as bad. Little to no metal shavings on the magnet.
The problem did not go away. I thought is was ok because the first test drive after the change was great and it was good about three hours later it tested good again. But this morning when I went to work, it did the same thing. The gears are changing a lot more smoothly but still having that issue going from 2nd to 3rd.
Can anyone suggest some avenue that a backyard mechanic can try? Any help woruld be appreciated.
