Read a lot of the old posts on here and I still have a few questions. Superchip seems to be the way to go, and I'll be looking at a 20-30 hp gain? If I get one is it as easy as it sounds (just plug it in and answer a few questions)? Also, is there any ill effect in buying a used one?

Thanks

first of all, the 5.9 gets the best gains for our trucks. nearly 50 hp and 60lbft so it is going to be noticeable... used isn't a bad option, as long as the guy before you cleared out his vin and returned his vehicle to stock... that is the only thing i would really worry about... i know playmaker bought a used one so wait for him to chime in but $ for $ a superchips is an easy way to make power.

I know the chart says 46 hp, but is that a true amount? How much more hp do you think it would be with a couple mods like exhaust and cai?

I care haha, I have to convince my parents to buy it as a bday gift. I'm trying to make it sound like the best deal possible. So, the more hp the better.

i just got mine yesterday for my 3.9 and dam it made a pretty good difference in low end torque, i pull 4wheelers alot so i set it to towing and i can actually pull 4 of them with no problem, it adjusted the tranny perfectly, also the performance setting requires 91 octane or higher, at least for me it does, but its worth it trust me

17 HP and 28 ft/lbs, im guessing that is when its in the performance 91 setting, u can also change top speed limiter up to 140 rev limiter, tire size, you cant manually change shift points but it seems like it does automatically cuz in towing the gears are taller and firmer, for $350 it is well worth it, it also has a mileage setting which i havnt used yet but plan on and hopefully it will help on highway trips
