Default what to do..my truck was hit by a van

Well last Friday (good Friday) wasn't so good for me, little old lady didn’t bother to look before she ran into me. It has 109K miles and nothing wrong with it so I hate to let it go, i have had the truck for 5 years.

So far the upper ball joint, upper control arm are bad and axle is leaking, parts are on order. But I haven’t had it looked at, this is just what i am seeing.

both windows work up and down, but the drivers door wont open. I really don’t want salvage doors, but I have been looking. I don’t know what to do with this...

My job.... I work at an automotive supplier for the big 3. Been working only 3 weeks a month for the past 6 months so I dropped FULL coverage on the truck in January! :|

Why won't her insurance pay if she ran into you? I used to work at a body shop and if I had to throw out a number I'd say that looks to be no less than $3000-$4000 worth of damage from what I can see in the picture! Obviously if you get the parts and do the work yourself it won't be that much, but that could take up to week or so to fix if you work on it everyday.

Call her insurance company and file a claim with them. You have all her information right?

Sucks though. If I were you, if her insurance company wants to total it, then let them total it, buy the truck back and fix her yourself.

Hey guys, I live in Michigan, Michigan is a no-fault state. This means that my own Michigan car insurance company pays for the economic losses I suffer in an accident, regardless of who was at fault. All I can get from this wonderful old lady is $500.... I have already spent that!

She didn’t yield to oncoming traffic, turned right into me. I tried to turn to avoid her but no luck. I am glad it was van, if it was a car she would have went under the truck.

The bottom pic shows with new ball joint. that’s when i noticed the bent control arm, it’s still not right. I have a control arm off a Durango, I will put the control arm on today. From what i have noticed the fender, doors, bumper, are all thats bad, o and i can't open the driver door.

I see new fenders on ebay...anybody have any luck with ebay body parts?

I bought a header panel off eBay. It's aftermarket ofcourse, but it fill pretty well.

Aftermarket parts don't always fit perfect, but if you can do bodywork yourself sometimes it's worth the cost difference. I'd check out some junk yards.

I dissagree, if the cab floor was wrinkled, the rocker panels would show some damage, and it doesn't look like they took on any damage. It looks to me like it needs a new fender/fender flare, 2 new doors (or just the door skins if theres not structural damage to the door), and the front bumper needs to be straightened and painted or replaced as far as just body damage goes. Thats just what I can tell from the pictures though.
