Default a quick question

So I'm looking at this 01 quad cab with a 5.9 v8. And that brings me to my question...why does this have such a big motor in it?

because its a big truck. 5.9's came in R/T's, but every now and then you'll find a quad cab with a 5.9. consider yourself lucky you found one. most everyone agrees that a quad cab needs at least a 4.7 just to get out of its own way.

in a sense yeah. The 5.9 although a big in displacement for now in days doesn't put out the kind of numbers a new 5.7 hemi would. Although a very powerful engine in a small truck its probably just enough for the quad cab.

I looked it up and the 5.9 is only 10 more hp than the 4.7....

its the torque that gets ya there ,

and it has alot more potential for mods, and has a reputation for being bulletproof, the damn things just run forever, cant go wrong with the 5.9 (or any of the engines offered in the dak for that matter)

mods are much (and i would know lol) easier for the 5.9 and also the torque is 50 more than the 4.7 which makes a big difference in these trucks...

just don't buy it if you want gas mileage lol

If im not mistaken it was only offered for 1 year in the quad cab. Which its a pretty rare find.
