4.7 liter V8 questions buying a used Dakota
I totaly agree. I am thinking of lifting it about 2 inches just to get some height and add some BFG All terrains to it. I have a few plans already for it. I plan on driving it IN TO THE GROUND. I drive about 35-40k a year.
I thought that I had said I was choosing the 2004. What about the 2004?

265/70-16's... its the same that i have and don't rub
there is a guy on here with 265/75-16s that rub a little under hard cornering but if you were to lift it it shouldn't be that big of a problem

to be honest, im not sure there is anything "important" that was different with being an 04, other than it was the last year for the good body style. The 4.7 is a good motor, but if i were looking for every inch of towing power or performance i could, i wouldnt lift and add big tires. Its nothing but a waste of torque and more wind resistance. However, if you're into that look, more power to you. For a small displacement v8, the 4.7 keeps its torque down in the RPM's pretty well, which is important. However, if I were you, I would look into a transmission cooler (provided its an automatic) if you plan on doing alot of towing. if you can find out if your truck came with the "tow package", it may already have a trans cooler.
as wink said the 04 is the last of the best (body style)
if you want to do the lift/bigger tires, then that would be sick, however your gonna have to do some power mods in order to keep it somewhat quick... kinda just got to weigh out what you are looking for, wether it be power or looks.

As you can see in my Avatar photo I am an offroad fanatic and if I go larger tires then I usually gear it to them also.
I had seen the 08 Ram wheels and tires on a Dakota when I was looking and man they looked good. I have a connection to some take offs so that might be where I go.

Ok I am officially FRUSTRATED! I have been on here a little now and noticing that there is not much difference from the 4.7l Dakotas, however the 04 for some reason is different from the othere 4.7's. WHAT IS GOING ON? I cant seem to get a straight answer.
