Default Highbeam Indicator Problem

Hey guys, I am new to the site. I bought a 99 Dakota w/5.2 yesterday and only paid $3300, smoking deal, not much wrong with it but, when I got in it last night I noticed the highbeam indicator light was on even though the truck was shut off and no keys were in the ignition. If you turn on the headlights to low beam the light stays on, and if you turn the highbeams on the indicator light then goes off. The driving lights on the bottom of the bumper have been removed, one side I noticed was cut and the other has the plug on the end. Any suggestions?

Check your headlight lamps. They might be a 9004. They should be a 9007. The bulbs are interchangeable, but the high beam and ground wire are swapped. Pop one out and check to see if it's a 9004.

Check your wiring. Somebody may have messed with it. Check for splices or cuts. Follow them back. Also check the relay (if there is one, can't remember off the top of my head).

It may in fact be the fog lights. You could try getting a universal plug for a 880 fog and wiring that into the one that was cut off, then put a bulb in both and see if it goes away.
