Actully daks are better. The rams are big and have the 5.2 and 5.9 v8 while the dak is smaller and come with the same engines

If I was looking for a 2nd Gen Dakota, it would be a QC 4.7L 4x4 - preferably with manual trans.
But as said before, the 45RFE behind the 4.7L looks to be much better than the older style 42/46RE found behind the 3.9/5.2/5.9's.

Ram's are better for certain drivers -- more room for their ego's.

Im trying to find a 03-04 QC 4.7L dakota w/ a manual trans but they are hard to find. Ive been combing vehix yahoo cars google and other places, when i get home for the summer i may start looking around at the used car mags. Has anybody have any issues with the transmissions or has anyone had to replace anything major in their dakotas?

well not on an 03-04 or a stick, but my 02 4.7 auto had to replaice transmission solenoid and IAC motor a few thousand miles ago; about 85k i guess.

nope...no major problems!!!

as for the ram owner...rams are alot easier to get then a dakota and thats usualy the first thing you see when you go and take a drive just about anywhere....im serious...if you look at teh other vehicalson the road and count how many rams there are rather then dakotas.....theres about 20:1 ram:dakota

im not doggin on the daks...but there harder for find for a good price....right after i bought mine i found another one with 20k less miles and it was 4k more!!!

and it was in worse shape.

to each his own......i prefer a dakota rather then a ram....just because everyone owns a ram!!!

and after much thought....if the dealer would make me a good deal...id trade for an 08 5.7L 6-speed that has 15k miles and a bed liner and a 2-3 drop...hes asking 19,5000 but he wont give me more then a grand for my truck WITH TEH RIMS!!!!!!

oh and your welcom for the cookie..ive got plenty more if anyone else wants one!!!
