I know I know, get a bigger truck. I understand that. However at this time it is not feasable. I have a 12 ft. enclosed trailer that I need to pull. What is the towing capacity on this truck, Its the 98 Dakota Regular Cab, 4 cyl, 5 sp. Just needing to know a weight that would be feasable.

an enclosed trailer has a lot of wind resistance too, keep that in mind

 

Well Hell, the trailer alone is 1450 lbs, and then I'm going to have another 5-600 lbs on top of that. You dont think thats do-able. I dont need to climb mountains, just go about 60 miles here in the flat plains of kansas...

 

i highly doubt it,
i got a cab and pulled it home, roughly 8-900 pounds,
never was able to use 5th gear, 4th and 45 the whole 2 hours home

the 1st brand new truck i got was a 98 dakota with 4 banger and 5 speed
i pulled a 16 foot trailer hualing off limbs brush and tree's

u should be good with that.
just thinking....i really messed up my bumper back then dont put the tow ball on the bumper. get a hitch
o and stopping wont be good. dont follow any one close. lol

 

why do people even bother putting a ball on the bumper? its only rated for 500 pounds. in theory, if me and my friend stand on it it could bend down.

I can remember many of times putting about 2-3,000lb on my brother in laws truck (01 dak) which it held nicely with no bending.
