Dakota transmission swap?
hi. i have a 97 dakota v6 3.9 4x4 with the A500 transmission, can i swap a A518 in to it with out problems?

should be able to. 46re... I believe they are the same but I would check the plug connections on the transmissions.

im pretty sure your going to have a problem with your linkage

They list the exact same part numbers for the shift linkage 42RE and 46RE.

I'm not to sure where you got that from but I can tell you my 42re linkage doesnt fit on the 46re... The 42re uses only a cable. The 46re has a cable which goes to a mechanical linkage which is bolted to the steering column

I'm trying to get a linkage myself for my truck, which was a 3.9/42re now is a 5.9/46re
