ball joints
So today I was graced with the wonderful squek of my left front ball joint. Im kind of complexed by this though. I know there was a recall on these and when I checked on the dodge website it didn't say I needed any thing taken care of. But when I bought the truck I had a carfax on it and it didn't say anything about a recall being fixed. Also if it was fixed, ball joints should last A LOT longer than what it has. Its an 2002 w/ 105k on it. Is this really low for having ball joints go bad? I figured that must mean it should be fixed by the recall but I think I might just have to call Dodge and try to ask them... This is very frustrating. I don't have hundreds of dollars to spend on ball joints when that are not that old...
the ball joints on these trucks suck.. i did all 4 on mine (recall was already done in the past). they ere $300 for greaseable units from napa. did the work myself. its easy. the lowers were a b*tch to remove, but enough pb blaster, some heat, and a 10 pound sledge. you'll get the job done
Luckly theres a guy at work that is an awesome mechanic and he will always help me after work.
I just can't believe that they would only last >100k miles. These are things that give Dodge a bad rap for reliablilty. My dad just did the ones on his company truck and it had 200k on it and my girlfriend just did hers on her infiniti and she has 180 something on it. If the recall was already done its probably only been 60k or less on these ball joints. Thats rediculous.
