Default Serpentine belt.

I'm trying to by-pass my A/C, but no shop near me has a by-pass pulley. Well i went online and found out i needed a 88.5 length belt for a truck same year/engine as mine. Well i get home and try to put it on and it is about 1 1/2" short. the true length of it is 88.5 but is still too short.

Any suggestions?

My truck is a 97 dodge dakota, 3.9L. 2WD.

Get a 90 inch belt?
I'm also assuming you know how to use the automatic belt tensioner. (Which is pulley on the most passenger side of the vehicle. It's under the alternator)
In case you don't know-- I think the pulley bolt is a 15MM. Whatever it is, get a wrench or ratchet/socket that fits the bolt. Pull the wrench/ratchet towards the drivers side to loosen the tension And fit the belt around.
Feed the belt around every pulley (except the idler pulley). Than, get slack on the tensioner, and put the belt under the idler pulley and slowly release tension, while checking alignment on all the pulleys.

heh yeah i guess a 90" belt could work. I was hoping for something indicating i'm a moron and "this this and this" is why.

Yeah the wrench is 16MM.

I guess i'll go get a pulley.

I had someone helping me with it (the automatic belt tensioner) and still i was about a 1" shy of getting it where it should be.
