A/C Sealers... and Getting it done right..
Okay, so recently my ac has decided to stop working has worked fine ever since I got the truck very cold now not so much. I believe I have a leak at the condenser as there is oil on it near the top. But the tube was still getting cold so Im guessing a pin hole leak so I thought I might try a sealer instead of replacing it for 400 some odd bucks.
Now I don't own a vacuum setup for this. So Im thinking of getting a ac dryer and putting in some of the ac sealant stuff. They seem to be activated by moisture. Has anyone tried any of these and had luck?
and Am I better off getting a pro to vacuum the system and put the sealant in and what not? I might even by the dye as it's cheap 15 bucks and get a black light to check it out and make sure. But now my tube which was getting cold is not any more and was slowly getting less cold over time. Now it's just a warm pipe like all the others in the truck.

a/c sealant, ie: stopleak. will only cause you so many more problems in the future when its goes bad again. you will never it get it out when and if you decide to fix it right. Personally i wouldnt put that in a a/c system, but thats just my 2 cents.
Well I did some reading on this. It apparently flows as liquid. Only turns solid when there is a leak when moisture is introduced into the system. But Who knows Im hoping to see what others say.
i clicked on that link and it says it continues to run through the system as a liquid. thats great and all but what happens when it gets to the compress and condenser that are only suppose to have vapor going through them. just some questions i would have.
All ac system have compressor oil in it.
DON'T-use super-seal or, any other type sealant in there!
It will cause you tons of problems down the road.
I could go on & on why NOT to use it but, it's late.
Find the leak, fix it right, be done with it. Use a sealant,..
You will regret it.

Its going to kinda be like the stuff that you can get to stop the rad from leaking we put a bottle of this stuff in our jeep rad and it worked for about 3,000 miles then started to give us problems it was constly blocking our heater core and had it flushed 4 different times and still had to buy a new rad plus a new heater core.
all of that kind of stuff is a gotta-fix-it-now products, you use it when you have no choice, then flush it out and get it fixed right as soon as possible. if you have the money to do it right, then i would just take it to an a/c guy.
