Would this be a good buy for me?
I found a 1999 Dodge Dakota sport edition for sale for just under 5 grand. Its a 4x4 with a 5.2l v8 and has 91,760 miles on it. Would it be worth the money i haven't gone and looked at it yet but from the pictures it looks very clean and in good condition but you never know until you see it in person. Does it sound like a good investment and gives some reasons why or why not thanks.
If it's in good condition, 5 is a bit high, but not terribly so. Get the carfax too.
I'd try and get it for as close 4,000 as he'll go.
And as far as an investment, it's not a good one. NO VEHICLE is a good investment.
On the other hand, it should last a good long time if you take good care of it.
Try and see if he's got the service records for it, make sure he's changed the trans fluid and diff fluids, done the basic stuff.

Its not that great of a deal. I got my 98 5.2 4x4 auto slt with 73,000miles for 5,500. It was in great shape execpt for little rust on bumper and under side of bed. Had new ball joints, brakes, tires were pretty new,all new fluids and new inspection. Mpg is not great what do you expect for a 5.2 v8 but before my dual magnaflows I was getting 15-16 average. Now with my exhaust I average 11-13 I cant keep my foot out of it lol(improves mpg my ***)
As close to 4 as you can get. Basically, see if they will let it go for 4200-4300. If not, don't get it.
The asking price for my 2000 4x4 club cab auto 4.7L with 39k was 9995. I got it for 7200. Book value is still at 7500 with 46k private party.
