Default Recalibrate Speedometer for New Tire Size

Quick Question

2004 Dakota, 4.7, 5spd, 4X4
Does anyone know of a programmer that just does speedometer recalibration? Just got some 265\75\16s put on.

I don't need to tune my truck so trying to avoid taking my truck to the dealership OR buying a Cortex\Flashpak from Superchips.

Any direction is very much appreciated.

Cheers,
Shawn.

You can take it to the dealership, or superchips has the option in there tuner. SCT has the code for it, it's being tweaked by the techs right now to make it functional.

Probably not worth doing, I run 33 12.5's and my speedo is off by about 10%. You will get used to it. You may be looking at about 300 bucks to recalibrate but I am in Canada so I am sure the States will be much cheaper....

superchips and hypertech do it, but sort of pricey at $300 new.
dealership can set tire size (revs per mile) in the pcm for a reasonable amount, probably something like 1/2 hour of labor.

i don't know what kind of scanner/programmer it takes to get into that part of the computer, and whether a normal "tune up shop" can do it or not. anybody know ?

Wow, I talked to the dealer about a year ago here in New Brunswick and they quoted around the 300 range... actually it was between 250$ and 300$ to reset. They figure it was about an hour and a half to do it.

yeah, its horrid. I live in an oilpatch town so everything here is overpriced. Like, for a superchips 3865 Tuner, it is 600 bucks here and 500 the next town over
