INFO: He's got a 1997 Dakota, extended cab, 4x4 with 3.9L (please either make a signature -- like I have below-- or include this information in your posts)

But, I don't have much input on the actual swap, but there are quite a few guys on these forums that can definitely help ya out.

many 2nd gen daks came with the 5.2 so you can probly find one with a tranny and all the wiring and you'll be able to bolt it in with only needing new motor mounts

i was curious of this as well. So what you are saying is that the motor mount bracket on the frame is the same, but the mount itself is different? So just go to NAPA and get the 5.2 mounts and she fits fine?

I didn't think you even need new mounts. Just a wiring harness for that same year motor and it will bolt up to the existing tranny, just need to splice in 2 more injector wires. I didn't think you need new mounts someone correct me if im wrong.

And for future reference use the search feature im sure there are a ton of threads on swapping out a 3.9 for a 5.2 / 5.9

bolts in. If the harness is 98 the plugs will be different for the tranny and if it's from a ram I think you need a dakota oil pan.

search for my thread I think i did one? lol. http://64.150.167.247/forum/showthre...=35239&page=11

a guy has a 98 jeep cherokee with a 318. he said he will sell me the motor, tranny, wiring harness, and computer for $600. So will this all just bolt in to my 97 dakota extended cab 4x4 or will i need new motor mounts? also is this a good deal?
