Magna Flow part number 14586 stainless steel single in single out is the closest to a direct fit replacement you'll find and you'll be very happy with it. Basically a couple custom fabricated hangers and your in business. Doesn't drone in the cab like the Flowmaster I had on and still has a nice rumble. Sounds very good when you really get your foot in it also.

Keep the rest of the exhaust intact as well and please don't do straight pipes! That's just white trash stuff there especially on a V/6.

My friend actually had a Magnaflow setup on his S-10 that fooled quite a few people into thinking he'd put a V8 into it. Course the 4.3l is a bit bigger than the 3.7l but I've yet to hear a bad sounding magnaflow setup. I also like Cherry Bomb's Vortex mufflers a lot but I haven't heard one on a V6.

Def don't go with straight pipes or anything too loud, because with a v6 it will just sound like A$$. So like bondslayer said, go down to your local exhaust repair shop and either they can get you a muffler or you can order one off jegs or summit. I'd say either go flowmasters or magnaflows they both will sound good. Just a SI/SO will do the trick and keep it cheap.

I'm not positive on the pipe diameter on the v6's but on the v8's its 2.5 and I think its the same for the 3.7.

Just a FYI. Its DOES sound like crap with straight pipes. Had a new cat put on and the shop that did it broke the pipe where it goes INTO the muffler. Then they tried to sell me a new muffler. Nice huh? Well until the new muffler comes in (special order for some reason at all local retaillers) I have to listen to this crappy sound. I know my neighbors have to LOVE me by now.

Actually, You can most definately remove the clamps and pull your old muffler. Me and my wife did it just a couple months ago to Our 97 which had 260k miles on it. I'm not saying it's easy, but it can be done. As far as what to do after that? I would suggest a SI/SO magnaflow or flowmaster (the flowmaster will cause a bit of a "drone" in the cab) and reuse your old tail pipe off of the old muffler. This would be the cheapest and best sounding fix. Otherwise, take it to a shop, have them replace your stocker with the muffler of your choice and run new pipe. I do highly suggest staying with a SI/SO setup though.

Default exaust advice

hi all

i was thinking of replcaing my exaust and i was going w/ the super44 i think somone else mentioned. i have a 4.7l reg cab and wondered if anyone has put this muffler on there 4.7 w/ good results? i was also going to get the center in/out, sounds like it wound flow the best.

i can get the muffler for like 80 bucks and can run a pipe easaly out the back and put a tip on that won't get caked w/ mud and snow.
somthing like i had on my old s10

most people on here have the 44 or the magnaflow. some people say the 44 has a bad drone but if thats what your looking for then do it. theres a bunch of youtube videos with the 44 and mag. just get the one that sounds better to you,
