Default Cannot find Coolant leak?

The waterpump was changed out about 6-8 weeks ago. Since then I have brought my 04 Dodge Dakota quad cab back to the dealer 3 times. It keeps overheating and losing coolant and they cannot "diagnose" (sp?) were it is leaking from. They've done pressure checks, tested the head gaskets and still nothing. I think it's the water pump since it never happened before the new pump. Any ideas?? Please help!

My truck has the same problem, I have to top off my coolant once a week. If you turn your heater on can you smell coolant? The water pump probably has a slow leak.

Default Coolant leak

I haven't had to use the heater in awhile since the humidity is so high. I don't use the a/c for fear it will overheat. I will try it today and let you know. Being a woman they (the dealership) talk to me like I don't know anything and just keep repeating themselves. I don't know a heck of alot but I'm not stupid.

Just go buy a UV detector kit at any autoparts stores.

No smell when the heat is on. What does the UV test do?

The UV kit uses a die that you poor into your coolant. Then you use a UV light that comes in the kit. Shine it all around untill you see the leak and the coolant will glow. Just like a black light kind of a glow. Verry easy and best way to fiind a leak.

Someone told me about that and I suggested it to the dealer, they looked at me like I had 3 heads!! Said they only do that with a/c leaks. Someone looked at it today and said the waterpump does not look new. Supposedly they put in a new waterpump, thermostat and belt. The belt looks new but thats it. Calling the warranty company tomorrow and having an adjuster come and see if they work they said they did was actually done. After that I'm bringing it to a different dealership.

Probably water pump gasket. Could also be a freeze plug depending on mileage.
