Default New, stupid 2000 Dakota owner...

needs help with transfer case I think I screwed up. Any help apprreciated.

I was trying to put it in 4 low and something gave way and now the stick on the floor is just loose, moves back and forth and no power to the wheels. Could this be a major problem or just some linkage that has broken or come loose.

I did search for an answer on here but did not see anything that was quite specifice to my problem.

Thanks!

nonsense... crawl under there and you should see where the shifter comes down through the floor. it has a small metal linkage that pops into a rubber gromit on the transfer case. if your shifter is loose you probably just popped it out of the rubber piece.

Try that and see what it gets ya.

Thanks. I did that earlier tonight and found the linkage laying on the frame. Should not be too tough. Both gromits were almost gone rotted away. Thanks for the encouragement.
