Default Infinity Speakers for 1997 Dakota

Are the factory Infinity speakers in a 1997 Dodge Dakota 4 ohm or 2 ohm. I hear that they are 2 ohm, but others say that are 4 ohm?? Which is correct?

in my experiences, factory speakers are 4ohm, but the best way to know is to pull one and look on the back.

Thanks for the info! What speakers would you recommend to replace my blown out factory infinity's? I was thinking of going with Infinity Kappas but those infinity offers nothing but 2 ohm speakers. Would those still work? If not, any recommendations. Thanks!

No problem, those will work fine. Rule of thumb is not to go up in ohms like house speakers which are 8 ohms.....that would sound terrible.. Kappas are nice and have a crisp sound so go with them.

No... you don't want to put in 2 ohm speakers. That "rule of thumb" is totally wrong.

Infinity makes both 2 ohm and 4 ohm speakers. But hey, let me make it easier for you: Infinity sucks, anyway. Try some Polk instead.

i went with the infinity reference 6022i, about 100 bucks at best buy. get the warranty then you can blow them and not have to worry, because they will give you a free pair for the next 3 years.

I have the same problem. I think it has to do with the factory amp. You could try wiring them without the factory amp, straight to the deck (If you have an aftermarket deck)
