340 Dakota?

'89 Dakota +'68 Formula S 340= FUN
My father bought a new '89 Dakota short bed V-6 5-speed when I was 16 years old. I had a '67 Barracuda with a '68 Formula S 340 at the same time. As I grew older I stupidly traded the Barracuda for a Shelby Z Daytona Turbo! But I did swap the 340 out for a 76 360 before I let it go... Anyhow 13 years and 175,000 miles later we pulled the worn out V-6 from the Dakota. Bored and rebuilt the 340,(X heads and all!). Bought almost everything we needed from Mancini Racing to complete the install. Actually I couldnt believe how easy it all went together. And I bolted it to the stock '89 5-speed tranny! The alt. bracket from the V-6 bolted to the 340, along with the stock radiator, although I had to put a electric fan on front side of radiator due to lack of clearance for clutch fan on back. I made a solid state ignition system from mid 70's style Mopar parts you can get from any parts store. The '89 Shelby Dakota had a 318, the 340 block is the same size. So you can use the stock specs for that truck to compare to yours.
