Default 2004 dakota SXT headlight problem

i'm in a small town here in Alaska and the mechanic options are limited. i have no power to the headlight socket itself and the fuses are fine. they said it may be a module?? Any thoughts. thanks

It could be either the headlight switch is bad or the combination switch is bad. If the lights come on when you pull the turn signal arm towards you to operate the flash-to-pass feature but the lights do not work otherwise, you should test the multi-function switch. It is not hard to remove and replace. Here in Florida they cost about $45.00 at the dealer. Alaska is probably higher. If the multi-function switch is OK, it is probably the headlight switch that is bad, especially if the fuses and relays for the lights are all OK. Another sign it may be the headlight switch is if the parking lights and blinkers/flashers all work OK. You can get a Haynes Book at any auto parts store, it should have wiring information, pin diagrams and info on how to test the switches with a continuity tester or ohm meter.

Let us know how it turns out.
