It's easier to get a new truck i think...you have to make sure both cabs are EXACTLY the same (such as overhead console, electric seats/mirrors/ect), get a new (much shorter) bed, and source the cab. Then transfer all the chassis wiring and computer modules as needed.

Assuming the chassis will even line up... an ext and quad maybe..a reg and a quad...doubt it.

I'll let a more intelligent person answer this more concretely.

the quad cab is an ext cab frame(at least), they will not line up bolt for bolt, the wheelbase is waay off too
it can be done i know a guy who built a quadcab with a 6.5' bed... but thats a ton of work
im not normally one to say this but yea, you'd be better off to buy a new truck

Don't hold me liable here, but have you considered (is it legal?) to have a car seat in the center seat?

If you have a 4 person family, then I can understand your problem....

as long as the seat is bolted to the frame in some fashion, and has seat belts.
otherwise you gotta keep it under 25 with people in the bed
